ABOUT WAMPUM INTERACTIVE
The current offering of Wampum Interactive has been updated with support from a University of Toronto Connaught New Researcher Award granted to Nicole Latulippe for her project, “Exploring Treaty Citizenship in Scarborough”. This project sought to explore what treaty relationality is and how it is fulfilled by building and strengthening relationships with Indigenous knowledge keepers and rights holders. Through a partnership with Jennifer Wemigwans that involved visiting together on the land, in community, and on site at Fort George, Wampum Interactive has been reactivated for the purposes of public education and engagement.
We invite you to explore these three Wampum belts: the Two Row Wampum, the Covenant Chain of 1764, and the 24 Nations Belt. The principles and laws within these belts support good relations with the land, waters, and peoples of this place.
